This annual award aims to give recognition to farmers, operating in the Nidderdale AONB who have made a special effort to conserve and protect the countryside and where agriculture is the primary occupation. For example:
“By improving wildlife habitats, creating hay meadows, restoring hedge boundaries, tree planting, maintaining wetland, protecting ground-nesting birds, restoring traditional stone barns or wall boundaries; improving waste management; energy and water conservation…….hosting guided walks and talks, welcoming school groups and working with local wildlife and history groups.”

Traffic Update

Because the Nidderdale Show is so popular, traffic can be quite heavy on Show Day. Judging of Horse classes begins at 8.00am. At 11o'clock the High Street in Pateley Bridge is closed to traffic for a short time to allow the Brass Band led Show Parade to march down the street.

Drivers are advised to travel early or to take advantage of well-signed alternative routes where appropriate. These roads are quite narrow in places so extra care is needed.

Alternative Routes

Dacre Top : Traffic from Harrogate can follow the A59 and take the B6451 to Dacre Top. Turn left over Heyshaw, right on the Pateley Road over Yorke’s Folly (Two Stoops) and down into Bewerley.

Glasshouses Crossroads : On the B6165 from Harrogate, light show traffic can turn left down Bewerley Lane (locally known as Cow Pasture Lane) and into Bewerley. This road is now re-opened permanently.

With Police agreement, priority will be given to "down " traffic until 2 - 30pm and to "up" traffic after that time.

These alternative routes will both be signed; so look out for the Show signs!

Free Parking:
Free parking is available in Weatherhead’s Field after the Show Parade at 11.00 (Right turn immediately before the bridge) Free parking is also available in Bewerley at Clayton’s Field, Silcroft Field and Stoney’s Field. All parking areas will be well signed. Entry for pedestrians will be through the Bewerley Gate where they will pay the normal admission price. Click here for diagram of car parking areas.

Free Park & Ride (To and from the showground)
Ripon Farm Services are providing 2 John Deere Tractors and trailer people carriers
for the Park and Ride first from Silcroft Meadow and later from Stoney’s Field (overflow) Entry will be through the Bewerley Gate where normal admission charges will be made.

Set off early! Drive carefully! SEE YOU AT THE SHOW!

Police Liaison:
There will be a Traffic Warden directing traffic at Glasshouses crossroads. The Police Mobile Office will be parked on the show ground. There will be a police presence at the Main Gate and other officers will patrol the show ground. As last year PC Tom Shardlow will be leading the Show Parade down the High Street.

Admission Charges: Adults - £8; Children under 12 – free; Car Park - £5

Membership: The current Annual Membership Fee is £25.00. Further details are available from the Show Secretary.
